Times Table Answers

11 x 100 = 1100

11 times 100 is 1100. The eleven times table has a shortcut of its own: multiply by 10, then add the original number back. 100 x 10 = 1000, plus 100, gives 1100.

11 × 100 = 1,100

Adding 11 to itself 100 times gives the same answer.

The eleven shortcut

Every multiple of 11 is the number times 10 plus the number again. For 100 that is 1000 + 100 = 1100. The same move handles 11 x 23 as 230 + 23 = 253, or 11 x 47 as 470 + 47 = 517. It is the reason the eleven row is where most people stop reciting the table and start calculating.

Checking a multiple of 11

Alternate plus and minus across the digits: 1 – 1 + 0 – 0 = 0. A result of zero, or any multiple of 11, means the whole number divides by 11. Here it does exactly: 1100 divided by 11 is 100.
