Bye, Repeated
Three letters repeated 100 times, already written out above. The buttons take it to 1000 or 10000, the copy button grabs the lot, and the download button saves it as a .txt.
Repeat it 100, 1000 or 10,000 times
100 copies — 399 characters.
Three letters, small blocks
Each copy costs four characters: the word and the space behind it. The final space is trimmed, which is why every count here lands one short of a round number.
| Copies | Characters |
|---|---|
| 100 | 399 |
| 1000 | 3,999 |
| 10000 | 39,999 |
At 399 characters the 100-copy block is three SMS parts, since a split text carries 153 characters each. Anywhere else it is one paste. In the 10000-copy block, 30,000 of the characters are letters and the other 9,999 are the spaces between them.
The 500 that just fits
Discord stops a single message at 2,000 characters. Five hundred copies of this word is 1,999, one character under the line, which makes it the largest block of it that will ever go as a single send. There is no 500 button here: press 1000 and delete half the text.
Ten thousand is a 40 KB file
39,999 characters of plain text is 39,999 bytes, so the download comes out just under 40 KB. That is small enough to attach anywhere, and attaching it is the only sane way to hand somebody ten thousand goodbyes.
Longer ways to leave
- good night, ten characters, 1,099 per 100 copies
- hello, for the other end of the conversation
- The repeater, for anything you type in
